Description
A #9 molt periosteal elevator is the classic instrument for flap reflection and is most commonly used to reflect the mucosa and periosteum from the underlying bone after an incision. The #9 molt periosteal elevator has a sharp, pointed end and a broader flat end. Usually the pointed end is used to start lifting the soft tissue flap directing it towards the bone and the broader end is used to continue dissecting the soft tissue from the underlying bone. The pointed end is used to reflect the tissue from between the teeth, and the broad end is used for elevating the tissue from the bone.
